EVE Battle HD
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:37:05 AM »
Its muh birfday :buttrox:

So I'm releasing the updated EVE for the new M.U.G.E.N. A lot of things are unfinished as of v.77 so I'll just list them:

-Redo VS font..?
-Do victory screen
-Add animations to various sections
-Add hidden row to select
-Redo select icons
-New music...?
-Fix title ".:" so that its stationary
-Fix fonts so they display more than one person :okay:
-Other stuff I forgot

This is still a work in progress and its only compatible with the new RC M.U.G.E.N Its meant to run at 1280x720

Installation is simple. Simply overwrite the data & font folders in a fresh copy of the new M.U.G.E.N. Don't delete the folders in the mugen folder just drag and drop the ones from this download into the folder and click yes to anything that it prompts to overwrite

DOWNLOAD:.

And anyone I left out....

EVE Battle features a 10,000 slot category select or a 804 slot character select...And did I mention you could change the categories?

Demo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPRBqI0IjOg
This is just a short demo of the new select. The old select is still there in the EVEvolve folder...

DOWNLOAD:.

.:|GUIDE|:.
This guide will be updated as I get more stuff like categories for this sp...

Installation: Very simple, copy and paste or drag and drop the folders "data", "plugin", and "font" into your WinMugen directory- overwriting the originals Then start hording characters :P

<-- is the font set I used for the categories

<-- Is the size limit (52x9). Anything over this size will be larger than the average- so it will look off center. If you guys want extra categories, just create a word using that font set I posted up top. Use the "random" picture as a guide. Replace the pcx in the sff of the category you don't like, and you're set. Also feel free to post categories you make here and I'll update this post to include your categories. The categories are actually part of the sff, they are not .fnt files. Alternate categories would require me (or you :P) to make them in a paint program by copying and pasting bits of that font set image I posted to make words. On the select screen the selector moves up and down which goes from category to category. Left and right selects which character you want from that category- and there can be up to 500 characters per category.

Updated Extra Categories List 12/22/2006...

I had some extra time today so here's some extra categories...Right click the images and save as to get the right palette. Then open the png image in an image editing software and save it as pcx. Then open the system sff and replace the category you don't want in the 600 group. I personally don't use these, but not everyone may like the default categories so...

I use my anime category for this but meh I get enough requests for this one

This one was requested too

Finally a section for stuff you will never see

Beta stuff? I guess you could use the private one though...

Requested

Again I use a sub section under anime for this

Requested by people who didn't like the Mugen category

Figured I'd make one for some creators

Why not?

Since he uses my sp ;P

DOWNLOAD HIS MANY CREATIONS RIGHT NOW.

A mugen legend. I may make some more creator categories incase I ever want to make a creator battle game or something :sugoi:

Because Warusaki3 has made enough great characters to warrent a section...

If you don't want to use a section

Also if you don't want to use a section if you use this it will appear blank like the secrete section used for hidden characters. You could use this though if you don't want to use all the sections.

If didn't want to use all of the categories and wanted to give the appearance that the other categories have to be unlocked like a real game

For boxing characters I guess

For wrestling characters I guess

Too vague?

Capcom Fighting Evolution...or...

Capcom Fighting Jam

The reason why I use Garou is because Fatal Fury is too long of a word. I had to modify every letter so that it would fit.

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum

Power Instinct

Rage of the Dragons

When its made it will be ready...

Because I already made one for anime

DC, Marvel, etc...

Somebody asked for Marvel specifically... (There's already the default MVC one...)

Somebody asked for this

Best Anime Evar? (Before the filler :P)

Nintendo

:O

???

Requested. I already use S. F. for this

Same thing but meh special request for SF III

DC Comics

X-Men

More later...

EVE Battle Demo 2 The vid demonstrates the use of the categories more thoroughly than the EVE BATTLE is Fire vid. If you notice I make use of the Capcom section by using the first 50 slots for Alien VS Predetor characters. I use the first 50 slots of the CVS section for capcom characters and the second 50 slots for the snk characters. The last 50 slots I use for bosses. I know I still got 350 slots left in the CVS section but the point is that I'll always have enough space no matter what name I change the category to. I use a simple rule when adding characters to the sections. The first 50 is usually for regular characters and the last 50 is for bosses- this way I have lots of room in between. For the NEO-GEO category I use the blocks of 50 to pertain to specific games like Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is one block of 50, followed by the Power Instinct block of 50. I have a Rage of the Dragon block, as well as a Breakers & Waku Waku 7 block. I know 50 may seem like a lot but if I ever run out of space (which I doubt :P) I can break down these sub categories to maybe 25 or so instead of 50 to fit more sub categories under Neo Geo. Hopefully you guys get the idea on how to use this category select now though with this vid- but I'll include an updated version of my personal def so you can see how I've added characters (I'm still working on adding all the characters from svc, garou, samurai shodown, and a bunch of other games :-\)
My Personal Select

BTW I'll take a few more requests if anyone wants some additional category names that they want...

Project EVEolution is the "code name" for this update to EVE Battle. Due to time constraints I won't be releasing the storyboards I've been working on with this version- it will be released in a future update incase you're wondering why there's no intro, ending, and creadits sff... The new select has a capacity of 10,000 slots. The categories cover all the main games. Neo Geo covers all the smaller games by SNK that I didn't care to list. Capcom covers all the smaller games by Capcom- like CFJ, etc. Mugen covers edited characters and characters original to mugen. Anime covers Melty Blood, EFZ, DBZ, anime edits, etc*. Garou covers all the Fatal Fury games. Other covers all the games that don't fall into the Neo Geo & Capcom categories. Mech is a made up section for all my cyberbots/gundam/robot characters. Pocket is for all the characters that are under normal size, like NGPC and gem fighter characters, as well as characters from 2d platformers like Sonic. There's also a secrete category that you don't see, but if you move the selector all the way down it reveals a hidden selection for secerete/ bonus characters/stages.? And theres no reason to split Street Fighter/KOF/Garou up since the select has 500 slots per category. They are broken up into groups of 50.

Like this:
CharaName[01]
CharaName[02]
CharaName[03]
CharaName[04]...up to CharaName[50]

And there are 10 of these things per category. So say for kof I'll make the first block for KOF94, the second block of 50 for kof95...etc...When playing mugen it will only display the active slots so if I don't have any characters for kof95 it will just skip the empty boxes. So if I have 5 characters in the first block, 0 in the second block, 12 in the third block. In mugen it will only display the active characters slots (meaning you'll just skip over the inactive ones). So it will only display 17 characters for the KOF category, and it will look like you organized the KOF years back to back according to year, when in fact you kinda didn't- its just skipping the inactive slots. And did I mention you could change the categories if you don't like it :P? The EVEvolve feature allows you to change the select back to the 804 slot one by changing the default system & select def's with the ones located in the EVEvolve folder. If you want to see how I started organizing my select I've included a select called example select in this release.

Tips:
I made the new select so that you guys can customize it. In the select def, use the Legend up top to navigate the sections easier. Be sure to look at my example select.def to see how I did this. Press Ctrl F and type "SectionXX" (XX indicates whatever number you want) to find what section you want. I also changed the names of the ";.:|SubGame01|:." to ";.:|Street Fighter Alpha|:."or ";.:|Street Fighter III|:." for the sub games for the street fighter games. Doing this makes it easier to orgainze your characters by sub games under one category. If you do this be sure that you do not remove the ";" just change the "SubGame" to whatever you want for each category. And do not remove the mugen.cfg supplied with this screenpack, because of the timer on the bars, as well as, some other things...

My Personal Select I'm still working on it. I got about 200 more characters too add to it. Anyway if you look at it I've customized it by adding sub group headings. When playing mugen it skips the CharaName[XXX] slots (because they are inactive) and makes it look like I've organized my characters back to back when infact there's a gap of about 100 or so slots between groups and sub groups.

I also got the idea (I dunno maybe somebody does this with their stages already) to organize my stages by game origin. This way they're easier to find when I want to beat my friends on a particular stage :sugoi:

The following is a small excerpt....

[ExtraStages]
;Put extra stages here. They will be available in VS and Watch modes.
;For example, you can insert "stages/mybg.def".

stages/BLEACH.def
stages/day.def

stages/ZELDA.def

;.:|Misc|:.

stages/apocalypse_bg.def
stages/avalon.def
stages/blackheart_stage.def
stages/magneto_stage.def

Thats all for now.... ;D

damn, this will be my official mugen screeny. 10k of character slots? lordy mercy its the future of mugen of massive chars available for mugen lol The greatest screenpack EVEr heh

One thing I noticed, in the option screen. I guess it isn't possible to fix the "default values" cuz it's defaulted to the original mugen settings. And the time limit values cant be adjusted normally. Like it can be decreased, but not increased, cuz it "thinks" the maxmium value is 99?

Yeah I wouldn't change the mugen.cfg because of the 999 thing. It would screw up the timer counter since its 999- the counter would count down too fast. I did this for the look though since I like a 3 number counter...

Simply brilliant. Really polished work Van. It seems to run smoother than the previous versions. The little things really make it amazing, like the music playing over the demo, and the transitions. I probably will never use a different screenpack. Wow. This is THE epic mugen release.

Others as in Catogories? He posted a way for you to do that on your own above, as far as characters, stages are his forte.
